No more than 15 minutes’ walk from the Park entrance, the historic town of Kirkby Lonsdale with its award winning selection of specialist shops, tearooms, restaurants and inns.
A short stroll from the Park you will find yourself beside the beautiful River Lune and the three ribbed medieval arches of Devil’s Bridge. The origin of the Bridge is obscure, but it has given rise to a legend that it was built by the devil in a pact with an elderly lady. Or alternatively, if you would like to fish, visitor’s permits and licences are available locally.
Make the most of the areas many different walking and cycle routes suitable for all abilities. The Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks are on the doorstep so grab those boots, take a picnic and enjoy the great outdoors. Horse riding and Golf are also found nearby.
Our central location gives easy access to a vast array of attractions and things to do in the Yorkshire and Lake District National Parks. The famous Ingleton Falls and Whitescar Caves are less than 20 minutes away. If you are staying for a few days, why not pay a visit to our parent company’s attractions, Ullswater ‘Steamers’ located just off junction 40 off the M6 and the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, on the West Coast.
